Something For Your Ear

For quite some time I've been thinking of what my first blog entry would be. EdotVil's posted a couple of my sketches but a far cry from what him and Keemo.Werks have put up. Ever since I started back up in school, it's really been me and the books. My relationship with the drawing pad and pencil have been distant. You can say we became friends with benefits, with me picking up the pencil ever so often when I need a release. But, what I have been doing is searching for new tunes to accompany my readings of respiratory care with rhythmic beats and melodic sounds. So I've decided to, when I find the time to do so, share audio artists and some of their work for those who are searching for something beyond the radio waves.

I've been on the hip hop/jazz tip, so let me start off with Jun Seba, otherwise known as Nujabes. In an earlier post EdotVil mentioned that Nujabes has passed on, but his work has been on steady rotation in my car, my headphones, and on my laptop. It gives another meaning to living forever. Nujabes has done plenty of collaborations and works of his own, so I'll start you off with an album I really enjoy and you can take that in any direction you please.

Metaphorical Music came out in 2003 and features artists such as Shing02, Cise Starr of CYNE, and Substantial, just to name a few. The album provides smooth sounds you can lay back and close your eyes to, to beats and lyrics that'll give you a steady head nod. Tracks 3 & 5 are my favorites, touching heights in lyrics, beats and delivery. So whether you're puffin' on La or driving home from a hectic grind, plug in this album and just relax.

Tracklist:
1.   Blessing It remix (feat. Substantial & Pase Rock from Five Deez)
2.   Horn in the Middle
3.   Lady Brown (feat. Cise Starr from CYNE)
4.   Kumomi
5.   Highs 2 Lows (feat. Cise Starr from CYNE)
6.   Beat Laments the World
7.   Letters from Yokosuka
8.   Think Different (feat. Sustantial)

11. Latitude remix (feat. Five Deez)
12. F.I.L.O (feat. Chiing02)
13. Summer Gypsy

15. Peaceland

I've provided a link for download (click album cover), but these artists are the ones you'd want to support. So if you're feelin' it, cop the CD or vinyl legit to add to your physical collection.

I'll follow up with artists with similar sounds for the month. R.I.P Jun Seba.
Till the next....
