*RECAP* Scion Installation LA presents Palate - Curated by Zio Fulcher

Hello...

Our final stop (on our Culver City Artwalk) was the Scion Installation LA Gallery. At this point Mochi and I were getting warn down from the heat and we were definitely "art-walked" out. Also our little point and shoot camera was down to 10 mins of power.

This was our first visit and I didn't know what to expect from a car company's art gallery. It sure was different than the art we usually check out. Nonetheless, we're always open to all various aspects of art and the concept of "food art" was very interesting...I mean, very interesting.

The gallery was off the beaten path, so there wasn't a lot of people there when we were. We thought  we were lost, but then a little sign on the sidewalk pointed us to the right direction.

I thought the title of this piece was funny..."The Life of a Sheep". The first half shows the sheep grazing, the next a sheep grazing.  I never knew sheep lived such exciting lives.

"For the creation of these works I cannibalized my clothes: I used the various fabrics and textures to conjure flesh, bone gristle and slabs of fat in life-size sculptures of livestock carcasses. The material connects our bodies with the ones in the work, bringing violent acts into a familiar realm. My intention is to confront the viewers with the real and grotesque nature of violence, offering a context for reflecting about the vulnerability of our physical existences, brutality, poverty, consumption, and the voracious needs of the body" - Tamara Kostianovsky
